Happy Hump day and National Bagel day!!!
Our family vacation breakfast is always a bagel, cream cheese, bacon and tomato! We live for this breakfast….we started it in Saratoga NY. Everyone got up on their own time. I had everything ready for the family to create their favourite combo.
In the late 1800’s, early 1900’s as Jewish Poles immigrated to NY city they brought this amazing bread with them. It was Manhattan and Montreal that became famous for their bagels, hanging on strings and poles as an easy street food.
The recipe and shaped changed. Salt amounts were adjusted and eggs and sugar were added. The hole was made smaller too to accommodate all the yummy toppings imaginable!
If you do your grocery shopping at our local Fortino’s you will notice the fresh baked bagel’s holes are much bigger than what we usually see. These are much closer to an original bagel which looked more like a pretzel.
So what’s your favourite topping? Are you an everything girl like me?
Here are some yummy ideas from Insanely Good Recipes IDEAS
Turkey and Swiss Cheese
Avocado, egg and salmon.
Mmmmm…..pizza!
Tuna sandwich wouldn’t be as boring served on a bagel.
Classic bacon and scrambled egg…on everything of course 😉
Savannah and Lilah would like these.

A bagel charcuterie board. The ideas wood be endless for this board. What a great idea for your next girls getaway or trip to the cottage. 🍊 🍾
