Golden Leaves and Cozy Dreams: Transform Your Space this Fall.

Golden Leaves and Cozy Dreams: Transform Your Space by adding Fall Decor to your Home.

Ahhhh…the transition from summer to fall. While some of you might dread saying goodbye to the warm, sunny days, others eagerly anticipate the arrival of cooler weather and fall decor. Are you someone who mourns the end of summer or celebrates the beginning of fall? Personally, I’m a bit of both — I “mourn-brate,” if you will. 😉

I love these warm fall afternoons paired with the cool, crisp evenings. It is the perfect time for cozying up under my favourite old blanket with a steaming cup of mint tea. There’s just something so comforting and heartwarming about fall, don’t you think? To capture that feeling why not learn how to add fall decor to your home?  This season brings a sense of nostalgia, comfort, and calm that summer’s busy energy often lacks.

So, whether you’re mourning the end of summer or celebrating the start of fall — or like me, doing a little bit of both — let’s embrace the changing season with open arms and cozy fall decor. After all, every end is just a new beginning in disguise.

OK…so grab your coffee…there is SO much to look at today on my blog and lots of links to meander. 😊

Thank you Marty

I’m thrilled to be a part of this amazing fall lineup of bloggers that I’ve admired for years. Many of them I followed long before I started my own blogging journey — a path I’ve been on for six wonderful years now! Thank you Marty!

As a newbie participating in this group of fall home decor tours, I have some big shoes to fill. If you just came over from Alicia at Thrifty & Chic I am sure you are as impressed as I am with all of her amazing do-able DIY projects. She is so inspiring. I love her tutorial on faux brass railings along her kitchen shelves. That has seriously got my wheels turning!! 😉

Welcome to Fairwood Place

Entrance

You might recognize this little table from the Corner House entrance.  It is the perfect spot to place our keys and small essentials, while the decor adds a fall vibe. A modern lamp with a gold geometric base brings a hint of sophistication. The soft glow from a nearby candle holder adds warmth to the space. Above, a pair of landscape paintings in gold frames add a natural, serene vibe. These pics were the inspiration for my colour palette for the entire main floor. They worked perfectly adding autumn charm to my home. I’m in love with green this year. I was going to say this tall vase with soft blooms and seasonal foliage completes the look… but then I noticed a certain little someone’s bottom made the photo 🤦‍♀️

Living Room

This is the room where you will find Steve, Tank and I watching Netflix. To bring a touch of cozy fall ambiance into my home, I made a simple centrepiece by laying a wreath directly on the table and placing a candle in the centre of it. (If you are anything like me, you likely have a storage room full of them from years gone by.) The wreath, full of autumn leaves, nuts, and small seasonal accents, created a natural frame around the flickering candlelight, instantly adding warmth and a sense of the season to the room. This effortless arrangement took all but a minute to assemble, but makes a big impact, infusing the space with the welcoming spirit of fall. Sometimes the simplest DIY’s are the best. And let’s not overlook the fact that Tank happens to be the perfect colour for adding a touch more fall decor to my home. 💕 🐕

I love my wallpaper panels. No big commitment. I can swap the paper out whenever it suits my fancy. This is peel and stick and it is a dream. I am still deciding on what type of mantel I want above the fireplace. Any suggestions?

My Space

Adding fall decor to your home. I love this hanging chair

Can I just say OMGOSH!! I LOVE this space.

This is my fav-fav cozy corner. ❤️ I’ve created IMO (In My Opinion) the perfect autumn retreat by blending warm textures and earthy tones. The hanging chair, draped with a fluffy throw, invites you to relax while a soft mustard pillow adds a touch of fall colour without being in- your -face -bold. I filled a vase with dried hydrangeas, leaves, and foliage that sets a seasonal tone, echoing the natural beauty of the outdoors. Do you love how I hid the ugly chain that came with my chair? 😉 Don’t forget to add candles! The warmth of candles is the easiest way to bring fall decor into your home  It’s the ideal spot to unwind with a wee cuppa 🫖 and enjoy the serenity of the season. If you missed my post about ‘creating your own space’ don’t worry, you can check it out HERE

Adding fall decor to your home.

To complement the cozy ambiance created by the swing chair on one side of the fireplace, I added a bundle of dried wheat tied with a satin ribbon and a collection of soft, muted pumpkins to the other. I’ll be keeping an eye on that flame 😉 I am loving the natural hues of the wheat and the pretty blue-green of the pumpkins as they  harmonize beautifully with the earthy tones in my living room, creating a cohesive and serene autumn atmosphere. This simple addition brings warmth and texture to the opposite side of the room, enhancing the seasonal decor with elegance and charm. Notice I am not showing you the entire corner of this room? LOL There is a bookcase in the corner that is absolutely filled with nothing – important stuff lol. I am waiting to have the bookcase built in and doors to go on it too. Until then it’s a definite no show!

Kitchen – Adding fall decor to the ❤️ of your home

Fall decor accents in the kitchen

The shelves above my kitchen sink are dressed for fall with a collection of autumn-themed dishes, adding a seasonal touch to the heart of our home. (see? I am so glad I didn’t get rid of ALL of my dishes 😂) To bring in some fresh greenery, I nestled a plant into the mix, creating a pretty contrast against the warm, earthy tones of the decor, I also hung one on the wall using 3M Command hooks. I filled glass containers with seasonal staples like green and red lentils, some brown sugar and some popcorn, their soft colours blend perfectly with my fall palette. What a simple way to add seasonal colour. And of course my kitchen would not be complete without a nod to my sweet dog, Tank, whose picture brings a personal and heartwarming touch to this cozy, inviting space. (I will insert an eye roll on your behalf here 🙄). ❤️ 🐕

It’s funny how my last kitchen at the Corner House was full of bling, gold and pink accents. This one is filled with natural elements and earthy tones. They are night and day 💕 I love them both.

Decorate your kitchen with easy fall decor

Our kitchen is small but it is very functional and organized. We love to sit here looking out into the forest behind us. We have seen so much wild life back there. The inevitable coyotes that seem to be everywhere, stinky skunks 🦨 bunnies 🐰 and deer 🦌. Further back into the woods is a ravine that Tank loves to run through. With the onset of fall the trees are starting to take on that golden hew…in a few weeks the leaves will start to change and we will be greeted each day with an amazing painting in the most magnificent colours that only fall can provide. It really is a little piece of heaven for us. 💕

Natural elements add to the warmth of your fall decorStone and Clay: Swapping out some glass and ceramic vases for ones made of terracotta, stoneware, or clay. These materials add a natural and rugged charm. I love this little clay vase. I use it all over the house. Using wooden elements adds instant warmth. A group of wooden cutting boards resting against the back splash would be amazing. Fill a wooden bowl with fresh apples to add a pop of colour to your décor…and then you can make an Apple Galette too – so yummy 😋 I have included a recipe for this below. You’re welcome 😉 . These elements are not only visually appealing but you gotta love a decoration that can also be enjoyed as a snack or in a seasonal recipe. 😂 HAHAHA Lauren (daughter) — this makes me think of you! 🐝

I love a small corner in the kitchen where I can set up seasonal vignettes. This is the last bunch of tomatoes from my garden. Check out my favourite tomatoes recipes HERE  I specifically used eucalyptus in the jug to bring the colours of the living room into the kitchen to keep a cohesive look throughout the main floor.

Our table is set for breakfast using my favourite fall themed dishes. What’s a bowl of cheerios without a glass of champagne? 🍾  that’s actually ginger ale if I am being completely honest! 😂 But it looks pretty right? I love the muffin ‘tree’ to the left of the picture. I use it when I have cupcakes for the girls birthdays. It’s really cute when the cupcakes have lit candles or sparklers in them.

REALITY

”Mom, are you done yet? I be bored 🥱  Notice there is nothing on the little green stool, no candles on the floor and the cover is on the couch? As much as I love all the layers of decor this fluffy little layer is my daily reality.

As the crisp air of autumn rolls in and the landscape bursts into vibrant hues of red, orange, and gold, it’s the perfect time to bring the warmth and beauty of the season into your home. Fall is all about being with family and friends, celebrating nature’s bounty, and there’s no better way to honour this time of year than by incorporating natural elements and colours into your home décor. With just a few thoughtful touches, you can make a fall season transition, to turn your space into a cozy retreat that reflects the rich, earthy palette of the season.

It IS amazing how it takes one item that you are drawn to!!! When I moved in I had no idea what colours or style this home would be. We moved in here mid Sept last year and left in Nov for Florida….we lived in here for 6 weeks with 2 chairs and a tv 😂 It gave me time to get to know the house. Now I would highly recommend to anyone moving into a new house to take their time and really get to know the surroundings. All the nature in my back yard spoke volumes to me. I knew from their I wanted a relaxing vibe…then I was drawn to those to cheap little pictures from Home Sense. 2 for $24 😂 and that’s what started it. I still have a ways to go…but am in no hurry. Thanks for stopping in again Fran. It’s nice to have regular readers and reading your comments.

Thanks for the compliment Sarah. It took me a long time to come up with my title 😂 I am really getting into the bigger is not always better lifestyle. I am still pitching and purging from the Corner House. It really is making me take a hard look at what’s important…and most of my ‘stuff’ isn’t. 😉
I think my next blog might be outside fall decor…so don’t go away.
      Happy Wednesday

I would love to be greeted by that cute little dog. Your adoration for him is obvious and being a dog person myself, I can surely relate to that! Having that wooded area behind your townhome is a dream come true. Most towns back onto to others. How lovely for you. You have decorated it beautifully and so different from your corner house. You have gone from such a traditional setting to a very laid back and casual home. I have to agree about that hanging chair. It looks very cozy.
Thanks for sharing your home. Keep on writing and posting.

Awww…I love dog people 😂 i love that they just get me. I gotta say…the woods behind the house is what sold us on this. We truly have a unique little set up here.
I have completely changed my decor style in this house. The furniture from the Corner House didn’t fit in here for starters….so it was out with the old bring on something new and I just felt drawn to this sort of country – boho look. I feel very comfortable here so all is good. Thanks so much for stopping in and dropping me a line. Happy hump day.
