The world is in such a sad state of affairs. Wars, terrorism, violence, and prejudice. Then there is the worry of Mother Earth herself. The abuse we feed her.
It makes me wonder…does the world have the ability to become a kinder place?
Are you all like me and worry to no end for our grandchildren? What is in store for them? I lose sleep over this.
We are involved with a company called The Social Impact Games. The Social Impact Games (SIG) is a platform that leverages gaming science to inspire social good actions in an ecosystem called Competitive Kindness.
Partners including Olympic athletes, NHL legends, and NBA champions have leveraged SIG to inspire kids to make a difference at school, home, and in their communities.
It is based on campaigns with challenges that are presented in the form of a game. You complete so many acts of kindness and you will be rewarded with prizes. Each challenge submitted provides unique insights into character trait development including – Mindfulness, Empathy, Leadership, & Kindness. SIG can also be aligned with curriculum learning expectations.
We played as a family. One of our challenges was to leave a toy somewhere in the city for a child to find. Savannah was so excited to do this one. We took her to the dollar store where she chose a bug catching net and a bug keeper. She asked if we could go to a park on her way to school to hide the new toy. She crawled under the slide and hid the present underneath. We stood back at the car as we watched her happily go about her business. She came bounding back to us just as happy as could be. She told us “that just made my heart smile”. We were thrilled at the impact that this act of giving kindness had on her. We taught her to give back before she could even read. We knew then that we were definitely on to something really life altering.
SIG has a patented algorithm that measures your acts of kindness based on three things…time, energy, and impact.
Now…I know that the SIG will not change the world as a whole. But if we can teach our children the importance of kindness to their fellow human beings and to the earth…do we stand a chance at being a better place? I think so. I think we ALL need to do what we can to help this younger generation understand that they have the power to make a difference in the world.
This program can be deployed by a single class, multiple classes in head-to-head competition, as a business or as a family. You can play by school, school vs. school, or even at the District/Board level.
And for schools it is FREE!
It’s not just for kids. Adults can play too. It makes you hyper aware of being kind, paying it forward or simply picking up a piece of trash on the side of the road.
Our impact game library includes:
- Mental Health Matters
- Social Justice & Empathy
- Climate Action
- Celebrating Indigenous Culture
- UN Sustainability Goals Discovery

I’m not selling anything here. I am sharing information that can help make the world a better place. One child at a time, one school, one family, one business.
Please feel free to share this platform with anyone that you know especially in the school system. The company has been rolling out to various school districts in Ontario. They can’t wait to get started in the US.
Leave a comment below with your feedback on how you think future generations can make a difference.

Steve eats, breaths and sleeps social. He really does want to change the world and make it a better place.
I wasn’t sure if I should share this but I am so glad I did. I have had emails asking how to get from a sponsorship standpoint and had an email from someone offering to introduce us to another Olympian! The city of Hamilton is on board too. Exciting.
