My first reveal is going to be a super easy front entrance makeover….starting outside and working our way in.
On the outside – you can see that I’ve added a fun little title to our house above the front door…..the corner house….I think this gives my visitors an indication of what is to come…whimsical and nothing too serious! We re-sided the house 2 years ago. I love the grey and white…in fact, my entire home is shades of grey, griege, cream, taupe…I just never tire of it…plus it is so easy to add fun colours to this very neutral palette.
Before – the entrance was nice…well maybe not really nice…but functional right? It has a working door and a mailbox…but seriously lacking in any type of invitation!
First thing I did was add a chair…ya never know when the post lady might need a rest…or want to join me for a glass of wine…..is that bad? She’s super nice! The chair was purchased at Pier 1…less than 1/2 price. It is supposed to be a rocker but the rockers couldn’t be attached….the chair is literally off its rockers!! LOL…The seat cushion is also from P-1 for the low-low price of $13.99!! Next, I added a matt that actually welcomes you. I wanted a capital written D on the matt but I haven’t been able to find one yet. I’ll keep looking. Of course, the addition of flowers and plants is the easiest way to spruce up an entrance.
These huge mums are from Costco for ten bucks! A simple make-over but one that I can add on to over time. Change up pillows and flowers seasonally for a whole new look.
My granddaughters helped me with the fall decor….actually, they got bored within ten minutes and played hide and go seek with papa!! I personally would have loved it all to be shades of silver and gold…but little girls love colour and scarecrows…so there you have it! A traditional fall palette it is!
I bought a bunch of these little scarecrows…..they are cute and can be tucked into all sorts of places.
Thes mums are spectacular!!
This horse came home with us from Saratoga NY. Saratoga is the August place to be….anyone that loves horse racing will know exactly what I mean. Horse racing is Steve’s passion, I’m more about the hats!
These window boxes are really long. Just over six feet. To keep it simple I planted Boxwoods and left just enough space in between each so that I could place a flower pot between each shrub. I can take one pot out in exchange for another. It keeps it so simple from summer to fall.
