The Quiet Moments In Between
Finding quiet moments in a busy life has become more important to me than ever lately.
People talk a lot these days about “slow living” and peaceful mornings, and I gotta laugh a little because my life looks nothing like that most days. Some days I feel like I’m missing the ‘zippity’ of my ‘doo da” day!
Quiet Moments Matter More When Life Is Busy
My feet hit the floor in the morning and I am immediately off to the races.
There are classes to teach, schedules to organize, clients to look after, instructors to support, social media posts to create, emails to answer, laundry to fold, products to order, dogs to feed, floors to clean, ideas to chase, and somehow somewhere in between all of that…a life to live too – which seems to be taking a back seat.
Owning a studio and spa is rewarding, but it’s also constant. There is always something that needs your attention. Even when you sit down for five minutes, your brain is usually still running laps around the building.
So no, my days are not slow. But I have learned something important lately.
Learning to Find Peace Inside a Full Life
The quiet moments matter more because of the chaos around them. The few peaceful minutes with a coffee before everyone arrives. Tank resting beside me while I answer emails. Fresh sheets at the end of an exhausting week. A deep breath between classes. The studio lights glowing before clients walk through the doors.
Those moments feel enormous to me now.
I think when your life is busy, you stop waiting for peace to magically appear in giant stretches of free time because honestly…that day may never come. Instead, you learn to notice the little pockets of calm that quietly exist inside ordinary days.
There is where the balance really is.
Not escaping your life or pretending everything is calm all the time. But learning how to hold both.
The busy and the beautiful.
The pressure and the peace.
The exhaustion and the gratitude.
I used to think rest had to be some grand event. A vacation. A spa day. A weekend away.
Now I think sometimes rest is simply sitting in your car for an extra minute before going inside. Sometimes it’s lighting a candle while folding laundry. Sometimes it’s laughing with clients between classes or sitting on the couch with my Tank, who doesn’t care whether my to do list got finished or not.
Those tiny moments save me.
Why Small Moments Feel So Meaningful After 60
And I think a lot of women in this season of life probably understand exactly what I mean.
We are carrying businesses, families, responsibilities, aging parents, relationships, homes, finances, and everyone else’s emotions while trying to somehow take care of ourselves too…and it’s a lot.
So these days, I’m not chasing a perfectly peaceful life.
I’m simply learning to notice the quiet moments hiding inside the noisy one.
Tank Tails
Any today marks the day of our Gotcha Day. May 24th 2019, Tank joined our family.
I honestly can’t imagine life before this sweet boy wandered into it.
Tank has been my shadow, my walking buddy, my couch companion, my studio greeter, my little comedian, and sometimes the quiet comfort I didn’t even realize I needed. He follows me from room to room, I like to think he is checking up on me but I know he is hoping I’ll pull a treat from my pocket.
He has brought laughter into hard days, calm into stressful ones, and joy into the smallest moments. Morning coffee tastes better with him curled up nearby. Sunday movies are cozier with his head on my lap. Even ordinary walks are so much better when Tank is trotting along like he rules the roost…which BTW, he does.
He has become part of everything I love most…home, family, community, the studio, the girls, long afternoons in the garden, and slow evenings on the couch.
Happy Gotcha Day to my sweet Tank.
Thank you for bringing so much love into my life. ❤️

May 24, 2026 at 10:56 AMMarion, I so enjoy your weekly newsletter. I sit down with my cup of tea and spend a few minutes with a friend. Your phrase “missing my ‘zippy” of my ‘doo da’ made me laugh out loud and also struck a chord. Your constant reminders to cherish the small moments resonated with me. Life is hectic, chaotic, filled with ups and downs. So often it is easy to focus on the downs rather than the ups. And if I take note, I bet I will see more ups than downs in my life. Thanks for your thoughts and words! Miss you in Bonita Bay but see that you continue to touch lives wherever you are! God Bless.

May 24, 2026 at 1:51 PMSo lovely to hear from you Christie. I miss you BB ladies too. I think of you Pilates ladies often.
I am glad I made you laugh this morning…and I am so happy to have resonated with you and you took the time to pause and notice that we do tend to spend way too much energy on the downs.
Have a great rest of your day. xo
